Un manager di musica rock giunto ormai al capolinea della carriera, praticamente sull'orlo del fallimento, accompagna l'ultimo artista in Afghanistan per esibirsi davanti alle truppe americane. Si ritrova pero', in seguito a varie circostanze, solo e abbandonato a Kabul, senza piu' un centesimo in tasca e senza documenti. Finche' non incontra una giovane donna dalla voce straordinaria e decide di farla partecipare alla versione televisiva afghana di American Idol, il famoso show Afghan Star.
